I. Introduction of Joint stock Company of consultancy service and technology development for natural resources and environment

In 1990, our Company was established based on the proposal of a scientist group with the initial name as Mapping Geodesy and Engineering Company, under the National Department of Survey and Mapping. The formation of Company was indispensable in a context that Survey and Mapping sector of Vietnam started its process of technology modernization in which anolog systems are replaced by digital systems and survey technology developed thanks to satellite and data processing using informatic technology.

In 1991, the Company’s name was changed to Import - Export Mapping Geodesy Company  (IMEGECA) belong to Department of Survey and Mapping. The company had functions of advanced technology and equipment import, mapping products export and technology transfer. Those activities helped Company be considered as pioneer in the starting stage of a knowledge economy, created a main force impulsing the development of digital maps – geodesy technology in Vietnam.

In 1994, General Department of Land administration was established based on the combination and reorganization of National Department of Survey and Mapping and General Department of Cultivated Land Management. Based on that, Mapping Geodesy Equipments and Devices Company was merged into IMEGECA. This change had enhanced the company’s production function of traditional survey equipment. However, the foreign trade task of technology and information was still the most focused. At that time, Company had a staff of 70 employees, continuously carried out the mordernization process of land administration technology with a larger the scale of work spread out 61 Provicial Departments of Land Administration in the country.

In 1998, according to the approval of overall arrangement option for State-owned companies belong to General Department of Land administration, our company received the Materials Trading Division and Consultancy Services Center from Land Administration Company and took a new name as Import – Export and Consultancy Services Mapping Survey Company (IMECOSUM). The new Company had extra functions of technology related services provider including advanced training, technology solutions and projects consultancy, law and land planning consultancy, information products production. With that combination, labour force of Company had gained the total number of 80 employees (this number currently is 110).

In 2004, in order to catch up with the new trend of an economic market, Company’s name had changed again to Consultancy Service and Technology Development Company for Natural Resources and Environment and finally has the name as Joint stock Company of consultancy service and technology development for natural resources and environment (TECOS) as current.
